How to Activate Your SSL Certificate

Activate the certificate you bought - enter your domain and CSR, complete domain validation, and get issued. A clear step-by-step for Indian businesses.

Buying your certificate is step one. Activating it means setting it up - telling the Certificate Authority which domain to secure, submitting your CSR, and proving you control the domain. With SSL Store this is guided and automated: you enter a couple of details and we place the order, run validation and sync issuance for you.

Where activation happens

Right after payment, your certificate appears in your account dashboard with a Set up action. Everything happens there - there is no separate portal to log into.

What you need before you start

  • The domain you want to secure (e.g. www.yourdomain.in, or *.yourdomain.in for a wildcard).
  • A CSR - see how to generate a CSR.
  • Access to your DNS or your website files, to complete domain validation.

Step by step

  • 1. Buy the certificate that fits your needs. Not sure? Use the certificate finder.
  • 2. Open Set up from your dashboard.
  • 3. Enter your domain and paste your CSR.
  • 4. Choose a validation method - DNS is the default and the most reliable. See how domain validation works.
  • 5. Complete validation (add the DNS record or file we show you). We detect it automatically.
  • 6. Download and install once issued - the install guide covers Nginx, Apache and cPanel.

How long does activation take?

A DV certificate is usually issued within minutes of validation passing. OV and EV take 1-3 business days because the CA also verifies your organisation - see business validation for OV & EV.
